Healthy Carrot Ginger Turmeric Smoothie Bowl

It’s Sunday, which means it’s time for another recipe!

This time I’m sharing a Carrot Ginger Turmeric Smoothie Bowl with you. But you can just call it the glow bowl to simplify things šŸ™‚ My inspiration for this smoothie is the Alchemy365 challenge that I started last Monday. During this challenge I am following a reset similar to Whole30. The hardest part for me is giving up my crunchy things. Like tortilla chips and granola. But let’s move on, because I’m trying not to think about those temptations.

My main goal for the challenge is to eat more vegetables and less fruit. I’m not doing this because I think fruit is bad for me. It’s definitely not. But, everything in moderation. My sugar addiction got a little out of control over the holidays, so I’m focusing on less fruit and more veggies to try to counter that. If you follow me on Instagram, you may have already seen this post with my #AlchemyReset for the challenge:

Over the past week I’ve actually felt pretty great! I’ve had fun creating recipes for you all. Next week is going to be especially tasty, so make sure to check back for that. Have anyone of you tried Whole30 or Paleo before? Hit me up with your favorite recipes if so!

Let’s talk about this ginger turmeric carrot smoothie bowl.

While I would normally add mixed berries to this smoothie, I decided to experiment with roasted carrots in an attempt to get some more veggies in and reduce the sugar content. You won’t even miss the berries. I pinky promise.

Aside from the addition of roasted carrots to this smoothie, turmeric made an appearance.

Turmeric has been referred to as the “healing spice” and with good reason. It is anti-inflammatory, packed with antioxidants, and has been shown to reduce the risk of cancer. Need I say more? You should be shaking this magic spice on everything! ((Sidenote, I head that you can even use it as a face mask to brighten your skin? Can anyone confirm this?)) There’s also fresh ginger and cinnamon in this smoothie. I really went all out with the spices and trust me, your taste buds are going to be so happy with this match made in heaven.

You can top your smoothie bowl with whatever you want, or skip the bowl and drink it from the glass. Not as much fun in my opinion, and I drink my smoothies way too fast that way, but totally up to you! I’d normally throw some crunchy granola on top of mine, but since I’m avoiding grains right now, chia seed, coconut flakes, and a hefty spoonful of my pumpkin spice almond butter got the job done.

This smoothie is also perfect for anyone who has been really tackling their workouts as far of their New Years resolution. The banana, ginger, and turmeric are all great for sore muscles and will help with that achy, inflamed feeling you might get from high-impact activities. Hello burpees, I see you and my hips feel you. But my smoothie says get outta here.

I hope that you love this smoothie as much as I do! Make sure you tag me on Instagram and Facebook if you make it! Use the hashtag #getwellwithem so I can follow along and drool over your beautiful glow bowl decorations!
